source code version control benefit for code developers
Developers use VCS or a version control system to track and manage any changes to the source code over a period of the project
life cycle. This helps the team members figure out errors early and easily. VCS
also creates accountability in the work team. when working in an environment with
set goals and objectives, the team members' accountability is crucial to the
project's success.
Source code version
control systems play a very important role in providing security and encouraging
accountability in the team’s work environment since it documents all kinds of
code modifications. Team members will focus on their job, project goal, and responsibility
and contribute to the overall success of the project.
All the team must complete
their assigned tasks in a timely manner and with a sense of accountability as “The
act of taking responsibility for some action or deed and following through to
fulfill the responsibility” (Stone et al., Accountability 2014). Source Code
Version Controls and project management tools play an important role to achieve
this feeling in teamwork. As Bertram Bruce notes in “Technology as Social
Practice,” technology and social practices are not separate; Source code
version controls are the result of the need to solve such problems for code
developers.
Hi Addisalem, as I learn more about what coding is and how advanced we are nowadays, I can totally see how VCS is helpful when working in a team. not only does it help as you say keeping each one accountable for their work but also a great way to track changes and find errors early on.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great way to intertwine the reading to relate to the work world! I was having sort of difficulty properly using the reading so thank you for your reflection. Now going back to your content, VCS is an important and unique tool that helps ensure accountability and protection of the original documents. I dabbled in VCS before it did help keep track of new and old changes. A must-have tool for developers for sure!
